Infrastructure Systems

Site communications make the critical connections between mine assets and a central office, which may be many miles away from any mine site. The size and type of communications system required will depend on a number of factors, including the speed and amount of data to be transferred each day, and the location of existing infrastructure outside the site itself.

For example, some remote site may not have adequate line of sight connectivity to GNSS satellites, and so may require more localized guidance technologies. Or, it may be necessary to run dedicated fiber optic communication lines between remote mine sites and central office locations.

Caterpillar can supply some infrastructure components, such as power generation capabilities. In addition, Caterpillar and your Cat® Dealer can recommend quality third-party suppliers who offer systems that are compatible with key Cat technologies.

Your site infrastructure requirements will vary from operation to operation and from site to site. We can help you set up the appropriate communications systems to take advantage of today's advanced mining technologies, while laying the groundwork for autonomous systems in the future.
